The unit is most appropriate for 4th through 7th graders, but there are portions that are also appropriate for younger children.

Here’s what’s in it:

Lesson 1: Types of Angles (p. 4) – The first lesson teaches about the three main types of angles: right angles, acute angles, and obtuse angles.

Lesson 2: Measuring Angles (p. 11) – This lesson teaches two different ways to measure angles, including using a protractor (a cut-out protractor is included!) and using the measurements of adjacent angles.

Lesson 3: Introduction to Triangles (p.20) – In this lesson, your children will learn about six different kinds of triangles – equilateral, isosceles, scalene, acute-angled, right-angled, and obtuse-angled triangles. They will also learn about the symbols used to identify equal lines and angles.

Lesson 4: Measuring Triangles (p. 28) – This lesson focuses on measuring angles in a triangle using other angles in the same triangle, adjacent angles in a figure, and, of course, a protractor.

Lesson 5: Area of Triangles (p. 34) – In this final lesson of the unit, your children will learn how to calculate the area of triangles using the standard formula for area.

Answer Keys (p. 38) – Answers for the practice sections from each lesson are included in this section, divided by lesson.

Glossary (p. 43) – All of the key terms from the unit are included in the glossary so your child can look them up, as needed.

Online Resources (p. 44) -Would you like more resources for teaching your children about angles and triangles?  This page has just what you need.

Free Block (p. 45) – You can print this page as many times as you’d like on cover or card stock paper, then your child can do some real building with Minecraft™-like blocks!

Notebooking pages (p. 46) – Several notebooking pages are included, along with some ideas for integrating writing with this unit.

More from Time for Home School (p. 52) – Other units and services from Time for Home School are highlighted here.
